Travel guides & tips
Plan the journey with our current meeting point, boarding arrangements and booking terms.
A solo visit can be planned around one confirmed outward journey and its paired return, without arranging a whole vehicle.
Longer daylight does not extend a booked return journey. Plan the visit around the admission slot and the return departure you actually select.
School travel needs a confirmed vehicle, the correct passenger count and an independently arranged Stonehenge group visit.
Plan photography around the attraction’s permitted access, daylight and the return time printed on your transport booking.
Stonehenge is a prehistoric monument within a wider landscape. The Visitor Centre exhibition offers the best starting point for understanding what can be seen on site.
Your trip has two separate parts: transport to and from Stonehenge Visitor Centre, and admission to the attraction.
Old Sarum and Stonehenge are separate attractions. Our booked Stonehenge vehicle journey does not include a stop at Old Sarum.
The Visitor Centre is where our Salisbury transport arrives and where guests meet their booked return vehicle.
Stonehenge is an outdoor visit, so rain and wind can affect comfort and sometimes access. The transport and attraction have separate operating decisions.
A later Stonehenge departure can leave time to explore Salisbury, provided you still reach check-in before the booked vehicle leaves.
Cathedral admission and Stonehenge admission are separate from our pre-booked vehicle transport.
Allow enough time for food and for checking in before your confirmed outward departure.
Salisbury accommodation can make a Stonehenge day trip easier, but a hotel reservation does not include transport or admission.
The time you need depends on your admission plan, interest in the exhibition and current arrangements for reaching the monument.
A new booking reserves one specified return from Stonehenge Visitor Centre; missing it does not give an automatic seat on a later vehicle.
If you drive yourself, check the attraction’s current parking and admission rules before travel. Our booked transport arrives at the Visitor Centre without your needing to park a car there.
You can plan both attractions in one day, but each has its own admission and opening arrangements.
Dress for an outdoor site and the forecast on your travel date, even if you expect warm weather.
Your admission time and transport departure are different appointments. Check both before making onward plans.
There are other heritage sites in Wiltshire, but our standard Stonehenge booking is a paired return journey, not a multi-stop tour.
Visitor demand can vary by season, school holidays, events and weather; historic crowd estimates do not tell you whether admission or transport is available today.
Same-day seats may be offered when a journey is open, the online booking window has not closed and both vehicle legs have capacity.
Avebury and Stonehenge are separate destinations. Our standard booked vehicle journey goes to Stonehenge Visitor Centre and back to Salisbury.
Pet access is set by English Heritage and may differ between the Visitor Centre, landscape and monument areas.
Keep the attraction ticket and transport confirmation separate: each may have its own time, conditions and contact point.
Food options and opening times around the attraction can change, so plan meals without relying on an old visitor guide.
Shorter daylight and variable weather make the chosen outward and paired return particularly important in autumn.
Spring conditions and opening arrangements can change through the season; choose a transport pair for your actual visit date.
Membership and attraction admission are managed by English Heritage. They do not include a seat on our Salisbury transport.
An audio guide may help you explore the site at your own pace, but it is an attraction facility rather than part of our transport booking.
Your booked return brings you back to Salisbury. Any evening activity, onward train or meal needs its own timing and arrangements.
The two sites offer different visits and are in different locations. Our standard booked service serves Stonehenge Visitor Centre, not Avebury.
A half-day trip is possible only if the available outward and return pair leaves enough time for your admission plans.
Stonehenge is one possible day trip from Salisbury. Other Wiltshire destinations require their own transport and access arrangements.
Lacock Abbey is a separate attraction and is not included in our Salisbury to Stonehenge return journey.

A public tour bus and our pre-booked vehicle service have different tickets, boarding points and return arrangements. Our booking reserves a place on two specified vehicle journeys.
Check in at Culture Coffee, 67–69 Fisherton Street, Salisbury. Your booked vehicle boards on Chapel Place, in the alley in front of the café, at ///riots.counts.veal.
Available outward departures and their paired returns are shown for your chosen travel date in the booking selector. A listed time is bookable only when the operator has opened seats on both legs.

Bring your booking confirmation, your Stonehenge admission details, suitable clothing for the forecast and a working contact method in case journey arrangements change.
Choose a departure that fits the visitor centre’s current opening hours and your admission plans. Weather, events and road conditions can change the practical travel window.
Include every traveller in the passenger count, including children and infants, because each occupies a place in the vehicle.
Travelling via Salisbury can combine a rail journey with pre-booked return transport to Stonehenge Visitor Centre. Our vehicle does not depart from London or Salisbury railway station.
