History

Stonehenge history for visitors from Salisbury

Stonehenge is a prehistoric monument within a wider landscape. The Visitor Centre exhibition offers the best starting point for understanding what can be seen on site.

Plan your journey

Check Stonehenge admission, opening and access arrangements with English Heritage for your actual date. Our transport booking is separate and has a specified outward departure and paired return.

For current Stonehenge admission, opening, access and visitor facilities, check the official English Heritage Stonehenge page for your date.

Planning this part of your visit

Allow time for the exhibition as well as the monument when choosing a return journey. For historical interpretation and current visitor material, use English Heritage’s Stonehenge information rather than claims about the site in an old transport timetable.

Where to meet us

Check in at Culture Coffee, 67–69 Fisherton Street, Salisbury. Board your booked vehicle on Chapel Place, in the alley in front of the café, at ///riots.counts.veal.

Premier Taxis Salisbury operates the transport. Culture Coffee is the check-in point, not the transport operator. Each new booking has a specified outward departure and paired return from Stonehenge Visitor Centre.

If you need a different return or a separate vehicle, contact us to check availability and agree the price before you travel. Your confirmation takes precedence for an existing journey; contact us if it still lists an older meeting point.
